We honored our veterans at St. Pio by praying for them and hosting a Veterans Day meal after Saturday’s 4:30 p.m. Mass. Veterans attended the three weekend Masses, but the largest number of parishioners who served in the military attended the Saturday Mass and dinner. All Masses concluded with a resounding rendition of the Battle Hymn of the Republic. It is an honor to remember those who have served our country, and we will continue to do that at St. Pio.
At the dinner, veterans, their families and other parishioners enjoyed a baked chicken dinner. There was also a Missing Man table set for those who are still missing in action or are prisoners of war.
A piece of jewelry, and an Afghan blanket were raffled off at the meal and the winners are pictured. Deacon Tom was the winner of the meal’s 50/50 raffle.
